Tesla Faces Multiple Recalls and Service Issues with Model Y

Tesla has issued a new service bulletin (SB-23-10-003) to address the problem of water ingress on 2020-2023 Model Y crossovers built at the Fremont and Austin Gigafactories. The issue is caused by water leaking inside the rear trunk area through the liftgate assembly. The repair involves inspecting the trunk area for signs of water leaks and resealing the liftgate assembly, which can be done at a Service Center or via the company’s Mobile Service crews. The repair takes 1.8 hours and involves replacing liftgate lamp double-ended stud gaskets and liftgate lamp connector gaskets, as well as using Loctite hybrid polymer and sealant to prevent further leaks.
