Google CEO Sundar Pichai has informed employees in an internal memo to expect further layoffs throughout the year, following recent job cuts affecting over a thousand employees. Pichai stated that some teams will continue to make resource allocation decisions, leading to role eliminations aimed at simplifying execution and driving velocity in certain areas. He reassured that the scale of layoffs won't match last year's 12,000 job cuts and not every team will be affected. Several other tech companies have also made similar moves at the beginning of 2024, and Google has been reached out for comment.
