Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced founder of Theranos, is asking for a new trial or a reduced prison sentence before she begins serving her 11.25-year sentence on April 27. Her lawyers claim that they were prevented from presenting "compelling evidence" during her trial, including exculpatory statements from her former boyfriend and Theranos president, Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani. Holmes was convicted of fraud over her company's blood-testing technology, which tricked investors into believing that it could diagnose illnesses through a finger prick. A federal judge recently rejected Holmes' bid to delay the start of her prison sentence.
