Ex-Attorney and Fed Plead Guilty to Financial Fraud Schemes

Former Memphis attorney Leigh M. Chiles has pleaded guilty to wire fraud in a scheme to defraud an estate that she was initially appointed to serve. Chiles used about $124,000 in estate funds to write checks to herself and pay her personal credit between November 2018 and June 2019. She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years of supervised release. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2023.
