USPS worker in Dallas dies from heat exhaustion on the job

A postal worker in Dallas collapsed and died while on his route amid extreme heat with a heat index of 115 degrees, the highest in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1980. While the cause of death has not yet been determined, temperatures between 103 and 124 degrees can cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity. The USPS expressed condolences and said it was deeply saddened by the loss of life. At least 270 UPS and USPS drivers have been sickened or hospitalized due to heat exposure since 2015.
