Pharmacy Workers at CVS and Walgreens Demand Safer Conditions and Support

Over 2,000 U.S. pharmacists are planning to walk off the job to protest poor working conditions at national drugstore chains CVS and Walgreens. The walkouts, dubbed Pharmageddon, follow similar actions by CVS pharmacists in Kansas City last month. Pharmacists cite insufficient staffing, unattainable performance metrics, and unsafe working conditions as major concerns. The protests have caught the attention of organized labor, including the United Food & Commercial Workers union, which is offering support. Pharmacists are calling for more technician hours and an overlap of pharmacists working in the same store to alleviate their heavy workloads.
