Lawsuit against Morrison Foerster dropped by Edward Blum group

The American Alliance for Equal Rights has dropped its discrimination lawsuit against law firm Morrison Foerster after the firm opened its diversity fellowship to all students, not just those from underrepresented groups. The conservative group had alleged that the fellowship, which was previously limited to certain racial minorities, illegally excluded applicants based on race. Morrison Foerster changed its program to include all first-year law students after the lawsuit was filed. Similarly, law firm Perkins Coie revised its diversity fellowship program, which was previously open only to students of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and students with disabilities, to now include first- and second-year law students of all backgrounds. The lawsuits are part of a broader legal effort to challenge private-sector diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
