Garfield Park Safeway on Indianapolis' Southside to close amid rising costs

The independent Safeway at 2176 Shelby St. in Garfield Park, Indianapolis, will close due to rising operating costs and other location challenges; the owner also operates four other Indiana Safeway stores that will remain open, and a final closing date has not been announced; these Safeway locations are not affiliated with Safeway Inc., and Albertsons Companies is closing some Safeway stores following a failed merger with Kroger.
