Rolls Not Robbery: South Florida Bakery Clears Uber Driver Detained by Border Patrol

A South Florida bakery initially said an Uber driver stole 400 cinnamon rolls, but investigators later revealed the driver, Ivan Dario Rico Molano, was detained by U.S. Border Patrol while en route to deliver the rolls. Molano, a Colombian citizen, admitted to being in the U.S. without authorization, and records show he overstayed after entering legally in 2021. The bakery recovered the rolls after a family member found them, apologized for the mischaracterization, and said it would donate a portion of proceeds to help the driver’s family and cover legal fees.
