Affordable Homebuying: Where to Find the Best Deals in the US

Democrat-run cities, including some of the country's most liberal areas such as New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, are the least affordable for homebuyers, according to a new study by WalletHub. Eight of the least ten affordable cities for homebuyers are in Gov. Newsom's deep-blue California. WalletHub's study comes after home prices skyrocketed over the last few years during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the median sales price spiking from $313,000 in the first quarter of 2019 to $436,800 in the first quarter of this year. California has come under fire for imposing quotas on local governments to provide land for housing, particularly for lower-income families, and to streamline permits for these projects.
