Amazon discontinues Halo fitness trackers in cost-cutting move.

Amazon has announced that its health-focused Halo devices, including the original Halo Band, Halo View fitness trackers, and Halo Rise bedside sleep tracker, will no longer function from August 1. The products' supporting app and Halo subscription service will also be discontinued. Amazon will refund purchases made in the preceding 12 months and any unused prepaid Halo subscription fees. Users can access and download their health data until August 1, when everything will be erased. The discontinuation of Halo is part of Amazon's largest layoff period ever, with 18,000 layoffs announced at the end of last year and 9,000 more in March.
