"AT&T Data Breach Exposes 73 Million Customer Records"

AT&T confirmed a data breach affecting 73 million current and former customers, with compromised data including social security numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, account numbers, and passcodes. The breach may have occurred through AT&T systems or those of a vendor, and the data set appeared to contain information from 2019 or earlier. AT&T is offering complimentary identity theft and credit monitoring services, and has reset passcodes for affected current customers. The leaked data, previously attempted to be sold in 2021, was recently uploaded online for free by a hacker known as MajorNelson.
