AI researchers have criticized both CBS and Google for overhyping AI after a 60 Minutes interview with Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed that an AI program made by Google had learned a language it had never seen before all by itself. However, researchers pointed out that the program, PaLM, was trained on Bengali according to a paper published by Google’s own researchers. The researchers also criticized the use of the term "emergent properties" and accused Google of spreading disinformation.
