EU Demands YouTube and TikTok to Strengthen Measures Protecting Minors and Combat Hate Speech

The European Union's industry chief, Thierry Breton, will request YouTube and TikTok to provide details on how they protect children from illegal and harmful content on their platforms, in accordance with new EU rules. This move follows Breton's recent call for TikTok to combat disinformation. The requests for information will be sent on Thursday, and the companies face fines of up to 6% of their global turnover for violations of the Digital Services Act, which aims to tackle harmful and illegal online content, particularly content targeting minors.
