Meta Platforms has launched WhatsApp Channels, a feature that allows users to follow content on their hobbies, sports teams, updates from local officials, and more, making the app a "private broadcast messaging product." The feature will be available first in Colombia and Singapore, with a global launch to follow. The profile photos and contact information of the channel admin will not be visible to followers, and followers will not have their phone numbers revealed. The World Health Organization, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City are among the global launch partners.
