MTA Chair Janno Lieber addresses congestion pricing lawsuit in settlement talks

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is in talks with New Jersey officials to potentially settle Governor Phil Murphy's lawsuit challenging the federal approval of the congestion pricing plan for Manhattan. The MTA is willing to address New Jersey's environmental concerns, particularly regarding increased air pollution from extra traffic using the George Washington Bridge. Murphy's suit seeks a more stringent Environmental Impact Statement, which could delay the implementation of congestion pricing. Fort Lee officials have also filed a separate class action suit, requesting a mitigation fund for additional pollution caused by bridge traffic. Talks are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet.
