AAA predicts that this summer travel season could be one for the record books, especially at airports, with air travel expected to be up by 11% over last year. This Memorial Day weekend is expected to be the third busiest since 2000, with 42.3 million Americans traveling 50 miles or more from home, a 7% increase over 2020. Most travelers will be driving to their destinations, with road trips expected to be up 6% over last year, but car travel is still expected to be down from pre-pandemic levels by about a half million travelers.
