"Warhol's OJ Simpson Portrait Up for Auction"

A portrait of O.J. Simpson by Andy Warhol, part of the artist's "Athletes" series, is going up for auction for the first time. The signed portrait, which was created in 1977 and features Simpson holding a football, is expected to sell for between $300,000 and $500,000. The portrait spent 19 years at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, before being sold in a private sale in 2011. The highest price achieved at auction for one of Warhol’s Simpson portraits was $687,000, sold in 2019.
