Ted Lasso Season 4 Shake‑up: Why the Original Stars Didn’t Return
TL;DR
Brendan Hunt says Phil Dunster’s schedule and the show’s shift to a women’s team made it narrative‑wise inappropriate for the original players to return for Ted Lasso season 4, with Jamie Tartt among those not back. Jason Sudeikis had considered a comeback after season 3 but supported the new direction and even told actors individually that they’d been written out. The season opener includes tributes to the former cast via AFC Richmond memorabilia that acknowledge the past while moving the story forward.
