Dan DiDio, former vice president-executive editor at DC Comics, shared the story of how Jaime Reyes, the new Blue Beetle, was created. He revealed that he wanted to diversify the DC Universe and create a younger, Hispanic Blue Beetle with an origin centered around the scarab. He enlisted Keith Giffen and John Rogers to create and design the character, and Cully Hamner to design the costume. The character was introduced in Infinite Crisis and later spun off into his own series. DiDio emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared vision in creating successful comics.
