Alec Baldwin's Fatal Shooting: Movie Weapons Supervisor Waives Preliminary Hearing

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the weapons supervisor on the movie set where Alec Baldwin fatally shot a cinematographer, has waived her right to a preliminary hearing and a review of charges by a grand jury. Gutierrez-Reed, who is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering, has not entered a plea. Defense attorney Jason Bowles claims the shooting was a tragic accident and Gutierrez-Reed committed no crime. The safety coordinator and assistant director, David Halls, has already pleaded no contest to a charge of unsafe handling of a firearm. Prosecutors dropped charges against Baldwin, who was pointing the gun when it went off, killing the cinematographer and injuring the director. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not fully explained how live ammunition ended up on the film set.
