French Rapper MHD Sentenced to 12 Years for Murder

French rapper MHD, known for his blend of trap and West African music, has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for his involvement in the murder of a young man in Paris in 2018. MHD, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, was found guilty of being part of a gang-related killing where the victim was knocked down by MHD's car and then beaten and stabbed to death by a group of about 12 people. Five of MHD's co-defendants were also given prison terms, while three were acquitted. MHD has denied the charges and it is unclear if he plans to appeal the verdict.
