LA murder case against Nick Reiner moves slowly toward trial

Nick Reiner, accused of murdering his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom as his preliminary hearing was pushed back to at least Sept. 15 while prosecutors review more evidence; the case carries two murder counts with special circumstances, and the DA has indicated a possible death-penalty pursuit, though California’s moratorium applies. Reiner has a diagnosed schizophrenia and was being treated for a psychiatric disorder at the time of the killings.
