Nick Reiner Faces Murder Indictment Over Parents’ Brentwood Killings

Nick Reiner, 32, was indicted on two counts of murder with a new special circumstance of lying in wait in the December killings of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, at their Brentwood home. The grand jury returned the indictment on July 20 and unsealed it to enable prosecutors to proceed directly to trial; no trial date has been set. Reiner remains jailed without bail, with a Sept. 15 pretrial hearing scheduled. Prosecutors say the indictment brings them closer to trial, while Reiner has pleaded not guilty; his defense has sought funds to hire a private attorney.
