Nick Reiner's 33rd Birthday Marked by Family Absence at LA Court Hearing

Nick Reiner, accused of murdering his parents Rob and Michele Reiner in their Brentwood home, appeared in a Los Angeles court for a pretrial hearing as family members notably did not attend. His aunt Annie Reiner and his siblings Jake and Romy were absent, while a family spokesperson said the siblings have “utmost trust in the legal process.” The hearing occurred one day after Nick spent his 33rd birthday behind bars. Prosecutors led by LA County DA Nathan Hochman said they will not seek the death penalty if convicted; the maximum sentence would be life without parole. Grand jury transcripts may remain sealed at the siblings’ request. The defense is still reviewing discovery, and prosecutors don’t expect a trial to begin before 2027. Nick, indicted on two counts of first-degree murder with multiple aggravating factors and a knife used in the killings, remains in Twin Towers Correctional Facility awaiting future proceedings.
