DGA secures contract deal with studios amidst ongoing writers strike.

The Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have reached a tentative three-year contract agreement, which includes pay and benefit gains, increases to global streaming residuals, and protections against the use of artificial intelligence. However, this does not necessarily mean that the ongoing writers strike or talks with the actors union will be resolved soon. The Writers Guild of America is entering its second month of the strike, while the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists are on the verge of authorizing a potential strike. Both the writers and actors guilds are seeking protections against AI use in their negotiations, in addition to increases in compensation for streamed content.
