A new Kingdom Hearts anime series has been ordered for Disney+ and Disney Channel, reimagining the franchise with a brand-new story that expands the universe while honoring its beloved characters. Developed with franchise creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix, the project was announced by actor Benjamin Bratt at D23; Bratt will voice Ernesto de la Cruz in Kingdom Hearts IV due in late 2027.
