"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is a disappointing final installment for the beloved interstellar superheroes. The film's attempt to pivot to a more serious tone falls flat, and the heavy parts feel labored while the comic relief feels forced. The focus on Rocket's tragic backstory is the only part that works, and the character is the only one that feels fully fleshed out. The movie is not the victory lap these cinematic universe saviors deserved, and it's just the latest misstep in Marvel's quality-control problem.
