BBC Seeks Bold New Doctor Who Vision in Open Tender for Season 16

The BBC has launched a competitive tender to reinvent Doctor Who for Season 16, inviting producers to pitch a brave, cinematic new vision for 2028–29 after a major creative rethink and the Disney co-production deal ending. Proposals should be structurally flexible, include at least one companion, and emphasize ambitious world-building and a distinctly British, family-friendly tone. Shortlisted bidders will be invited to detailed discussions with BBC Studios; initial proposals are due October 2, with interviews in January and a contract awarded in March. Ncuti Gatwa will not return as the Doctor.
