Princess Diana's Velvet Evening Dress Sets Auction Record at $1.1 Million

A ballerina-length velvet evening dress worn by Princess Diana in 1985 has sold for $1.1 million at an auction, setting a new record for one of her dresses sold at auction. The gown, featuring shoulder pads, a blue organza skirt, a large bow, and a sash, was initially worn by Diana during a royal tour in Italy and later to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. The dress, designed by Jacques Azagury, nearly doubled the previous record for the most expensive dress worn by Diana sold at auction.
