Warner Bros Taps AGBO for a New Free Willy Reimagining

Warner Bros is developing a reimagining of the 1993 family adventure Free Willy, produced by Anthony and Joe Russo’s AGBO. Writers Mary-Margaret Kunze and Jade Halley Bartlett will pen the screenplay, with AGBO and the Russo brothers producing and executive producers including Lauren Shuler Donner; Courtney Baker is co-producing. The original film, about an orphaned boy and a captive orca, sparked sequels and activism and became a global hit, and the new project aims to reintroduce the story for a modern audience.
