COVID Outbreaks Prompt Return of Masks at Lionsgate HQ and 'Masked Singer' Studio

Lionsgate headquarters in Santa Monica has reinstated a mask mandate for employees on two floors following several positive COVID-19 cases. The mandate requires wearing a medical-grade face covering indoors, except when eating, drinking, or alone. Los Angeles County also requires masks in workplaces and other indoor settings with crowds during outbreaks. Rising COVID-19 cases in California have led to concerns about the need for familiar safety measures. The latest Omicron subvariant, EG.5 (Eris), is becoming more prevalent in the state, but experts say it is not more dangerous than other strains. An updated COVID-19 vaccine targeting Omicron is expected to be available this fall. Morris Brown College in Atlanta has also implemented a two-week mask mandate due to positive cases.
