Spanish Actress Ana Obregón's Surrogacy Sparks Controversy and Debate

Spanish actor Ana Obregón revealed that her recently born baby girl was conceived via surrogacy using the frozen sperm of her late son, Aless Lequio, who died of cancer in 2020. Obregón said that fulfilling her son's last wish to bring a child into the world has given her a reason to continue living. The baby girl is legally Obregón's daughter and will have dual citizenship, but Obregón considers her to be her granddaughter and plans to tell her about her father's heroism. Surrogacy is illegal in Spain, so Obregón had to use a U.S.-based surrogate.
