Carbone’s Hartford Reopens Downtown, Reviving a City Icon

Carbone’s Hartford is returning to downtown Hartford at 39 Front Street after the original restaurant closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 shutdown. The fourth-generation Carbone family will mark the opening with a ribbon-cutting on Sept. 1, and the project — aided by roughly $2.3 million in government loans — brings the restaurant back to a city block near the Connecticut Convention Center and Connecticut Science Center; Carbone’s currently operates in Bloomfield and Rocky Hill, with the Hartford location aiming to blend the family’s nine-decade hospitality tradition with modern downtown dining.
