Evan Rachel Wood says on Instagram that no one who worked on the 1998 film spoke to her about the sequel, with only Joey King reaching out to discuss taking over her role as Kylie Owens. Director Susanne Bier says recasting was a necessity for the story, while Alexandra Artrip—who played Antonia—shared support for Wood and will be replaced by Maisie Williams in the sequel, which hits theaters on Sept. 10.
