Legendary Canadian Singer-Songwriter Gordon Lightfoot Passes Away at 84

Gordon Lightfoot, the legendary folk singer-songwriter known for his songs that told tales of Canadian identity, died at the age of 84. He recorded 20 studio albums and penned hundreds of songs, including “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Sundown.” Lightfoot garnered five Grammy nominations, three platinum records, and nine gold records for albums and singles. He toured late into his life and canceled upcoming shows last month, citing health issues. Lightfoot's music had a style all its own, with strains of country, folk, and rock. He was considered one of Canada's greatest singer-songwriters and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1986.
