Teen Disqualified from Pokemon Tournament for Mocking Pronoun Policy

A teenager from Utah was disqualified from a Pokémon tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a judge asked him about his preferred pronouns. The teenager, Makani Tran, said he was 5-0 at the tournament and was given a sixth-round matchup against a well-known player. Tran said he was disqualified for violating the tournament's "inclusive policy" after a misunderstanding with the judge over his preferred pronouns. Tran's friends started a GoFundMe to help recoup the money he spent to attend the tournament, which raised nearly $2,800.
