The School District of Waukesha in Wisconsin barred first grade students from singing the Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton duet "Rainbowland" at a spring concert, citing that the LGBTQ-inclusive song "could be deemed controversial" under a district policy. Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Cyrus, reminded the students to "keep being" themselves and made a donation to Pride and Less Prejudice, a group that gives free "LGBTQ age-appropriate" books to classrooms. Both Cyrus and Parton have been vocal supporters of the LGBTQ+ community.
