Honoring Black Fatherhood: Celebrating and Supporting Black Dads

Black fathers are often portrayed as absent and disengaged in media and society, but data shows that they are more likely to be involved in daily care activities such as bathing, dressing, and sharing meals with their children compared to their White or Hispanic counterparts. The involvement of fathers, whether biological or not, is important for children's development and mental health. To change the narrative around Black fatherhood, it is important to have primary sources and stories from Black fathers themselves. Fathers should also model healthy coping and emotional expression for their children.
