Black Mirror’s Ally Pankiw Declines Hogwarts Directing Gig Over Transphobia Funding
TL;DR
Black Mirror director Ally Pankiw posted a message showing she turned down directing HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series, quipping 'Absolutely fucking not!' to funding transphobia. She clarified the refusal was about directing, not acting, and joined others in criticizing J.K. Rowling’s trans views amid ongoing backlash from stars and fans. The Potter series, with Rowling as an executive producer, is slated to premiere Christmas Day on HBO and stream on HBO Max globally.
