'Saint X' Adaptation Fails to Live Up to Acclaimed Novel.

Hulu's TV adaptation of Alexis Schaitkin's novel, Saint X, offers a kaleidoscope of perspectives that reconsider what kind of stories we expect from tragedies like these, and who gets to be at their center. However, an accumulation of minor fumbles leaves what could've been an incisive subversion of a familiar story feeling, instead, more like a replication of it. The series centers around the death of Alison, a white girl, and the impact it has on those around her, including her sister Emily and one of the men suspected of killing her, Clive. While the resort material is well-done, the present-day sequences feel artless in their single-mindedness.
