Teen Prodigies: From NASA Intern to Medical School Marvel

Alena McQuarter, a Texas teenager, is set to graduate college at the age of 14. She graduated high school at 12, interned at NASA, and became the youngest Black person accepted to medical school. Alena also started The Brown STEM GIRL, an organization for girls of color interested in STEM fields. Despite being discouraged by a school principal who said girls of color couldn't excel academically, Alena is determined to prove them wrong. She plans to pursue a doctorate in viral immunology and hopes to contribute to healthcare in underrepresented communities. Alena's mentor describes her as an inspiration and believes she can make significant contributions to the field of cancer research.
