Rochester family leans on local charity during toddler's leukemia battle

In Rochester, 2-year-old Kate Matteson was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric leukemia and, after treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital, is in remission. The family credits C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association for practical support—food and parking vouchers and gifts—that eased the burden. Local efforts, including Monroe County Undersheriff Korey Brown’s 5K-a-days fundraiser (which has raised over $50,000 for C.U.R.E.) and a supporting golf tournament, continue to help families facing childhood cancer in the community.
