Controversy Continues: Banned Books and LGBTQ Themes Dominate 2022 Reading Lists.

Poet Rupi Kaur expressed concern over her book "Milk and Honey" being one of the most banned books in the US this school year, according to a report by PEN America. The book, which explores issues of sexual assault and violence, has been banned in multiple school districts across the country. Kaur worries that students who rely on school libraries for access to literature will be affected by the book bans. The report also found that 848 individuals were affected by book bans from July to December 2022, and the organization expects the list to nearly double by the end of the 2022-23 school year.
