Capitol Riot Assailant Sentenced to Prison

Michael Joseph Foy, a Trump supporter who assaulted law enforcement officers with a hockey stick during the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison. Despite federal prosecutors seeking over eight years, the judge handed down a 40-month sentence, taking into account Foy's prior military service and susceptibility to misinformation. Foy's attorney argued that a lengthy sentence wouldn't deter future rioters influenced by false claims, but the judge emphasized the need for significant consequences to prevent similar incidents.
