"Fourth Ex-Mississippi Officer Sentenced to 40 Years for Torture of Black Men"

A fourth former Mississippi sheriff’s deputy, Christian Dedmon, has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for his involvement in the racist torture of two Black men by a group of white officers known as “the Goon Squad”. Dedmon and five other former officers pleaded guilty to breaking into a home without a warrant and subjecting the men to numerous acts of racist torture, including sexual assaults. The victims expressed their pain and suffering in court, while the judge condemned the officers' actions as "egregious and despicable".
