7 Virginia Deputies Charged with Murder in Inmate's Death.

Seven Virginia sheriff’s deputies have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Irvo Otieno, 28, who was physically restrained while being admitted to a hospital. The prosecutor’s office said that Otieno was smothered to death by at least seven people, including the defendants, who were holding him down. Otieno had been arrested and was accused of assaulting Henrico County police officers at Parham Doctors’ Hospital after they responded to a possible burglary call. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave, and the case is under investigation.
