"Arrest Made in Killing of Lincoln Native in South Dakota Line of Duty"

Joseph Hoek of Sioux Falls is facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault after allegedly striking and killing Moody County Chief Deputy Ken Prorok with his vehicle during a high-speed chase. The suspect had a history of criminal behavior, including slashing car tires and violating protection orders. The sheriff expressed gratitude towards a witness who tried to help the deputy and apprehended the suspect. The sheriff also emphasized the dangers of fleeing from law enforcement. Hoek is currently held without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on February 9.
