Arrest Made in Killing of Pregnant Amish Woman

Shawn C. Cranston, a 52-year-old man from Erie County, Pennsylvania, has been charged with fatally shooting 23-year-old pregnant Amish woman Rebekah A. Byler in the head and possibly slashing her throat. He is also charged with criminal homicide of an unborn child, burglary, and criminal trespassing. Cranston is being held in Crawford County Prison after his bail was denied. The murder weapon has not been found, and Cranston's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 15. The Amish community gathered to pay homage to the Byler family, who lived near Spartansburg in Crawford County.
