"Arrests Made After Secret Tunnel Dispute Sparks Synagogue Riot in NYC"

Twelve Hasidic Jewish worshippers were arrested after breaking into the Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters in New York and allegedly damaging the synagogue underneath it amid a dispute over a secretly dug tunnel. The worshippers, described as "extremist students" by Chabad's media director, disrupted efforts to repair walls and vandalized the sanctuary in an attempt to preserve their unauthorized access. Four were charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, two with an attempted hate crime and criminal mischief, three with attempted criminal mischief, and three for disorderly conduct. No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation.
